Frequently Asked Questions

Opt-Out

If you do not want the Student Health Insurance Plan, you must decline or opt-out of coverage by submitting a waiver. You may only opt-out of coverage during the following Waiver Periods:

Fall Semester - 06/30/2025 - 09/05/2025

Spring/Summer Semester - 11/16/2025 - 01/30/2026

The Spring/Summer waiver deadline ended 01/30/2026. The online waiver system can no longer accept new waiver requests.

If a waiver is approved for the Fall semester it will apply for the full academic year, and the fee will not be posted with Spring semester fees provided that the approved insurance coverage continues.

All students are required to have health insurance. To waive the Student Health Insurance Plan, your private health insurance plan must meet the following requirements:

    • Contain no exclusions for pre-existing conditions.
    • Covers 100% of Preventive Care as defined by the ACA.
  3. Coverage must allow the insured student to receive services in the "Mid-Ohio" area, not just emergency services.

International Students:

Coverage must meet the above requirements in addition to the following:
